Another Reason I (Heart) SAAB

Nina Kinert, a Swedish pop singer, provides the vocals for a really cool ad for the SAAB 9-3 SportCombi. Her voice is amazing, and the lyrics are cool. Check it out.

If you like the snippet of the song used in the ad, you can see the full video below.

Where in the World?

Thanks to swade at Trollhättan SAAB for clarifying that SAAB 9-3 Convertibles are manufactured for SAAB by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. I remembered it as soon as he reminded me. So, my new SAAB 9-3 Aero Convertible is making its way to DC from Graz, not Trollhättan.

73 Days to Go!

Two more days have passed by since I started this blog. Yippee, only 73 more to go. As I mentioned before, I am going to use this blog to talk about some of the things that I love about SAAB. When I was in the market for a new car about two years ago, one of the first things I checked was the Manufacturer Ratings on Gaywheels. Why does that matter? Well, it's pretty simple - some car manufacturers have employment anti-discrimination policies and some don't. I'm not going to give my money to a company that does not treat its employees fairly. GM rates very highly (good news for SAAB). So do Volvo and Mercedes. However, BMW sucks in the ratings because BMW has discriminatory policies for its manufacturing plants in the U.S. To check on whether a particular make is good or bad, see the Gaywheels rankings.

Also, SAAB is an especially gay-friendly company and provided the wheels for the Gaywheels Team G.L.A.M. entry in the recent Fireball Run (a charitable transcontinental rally race that benefits missing children). The Gaywheels team was the first openly gay entrant in the event's history.

By the way, according to Gaywheels, the SAAB 9-3 is popular with the gay community. Notably, the 9-3 is the second-most researched vehicle on the site.

75 Days and Counting Down!

Day 75

I have about 75 days to wait for my new Model Year (MY) 2008 SAAB 9-3 Aero Convertible to make its way from
Trollhättan Sweden to my garage. Over these next 75 days (could be less - it takes about 60 to 90 days for a custom-order SAAB to arrive, and I ordered mine about two weeks ago), I will post about my wait (expect a lot of impatience), my love for the SAAB brand (the 9-3 SportCombi won me over two years ago), the cars I test drove before I made my decision, and anything else I can post about to fill the time.

You may ask - why did the world need this blog? Well, I'm not sure I can answer that, and maybe the world does not need this blog. However, I can answer the question of why I created this blog. The answer is rather simple: I can't wait for these next 75 days to be up, and this is a good distraction.
